Tibo Sottiaux, OpenAI Codex engineering lead, asks developers for feedback on unsatisfying UX and interface elements
Story Overview
Tibo Sottiaux, engineering lead on OpenAI's Codex team, is directly soliciting developer input on interface friction points that break the flow of agentic coding workflows in the app.
Thread organization hits a common snag
A reply from engineer Nick Dobos highlighted the inability to drag and reorder threads into custom sequences, suggesting at least basic pin reordering on iOS as a starting fix.
Next steps stay unspecified for now
No details have surfaced on whether the requested changes will be prioritized, implemented, or how they might affect the current desktop and ChatGPT-integrated mobile experience.
Some users love the Codex app and recent updates calling it beautiful or the best tool, while many others criticize the Windows version's permissions prompts and frontend as infuriating and trash.

@ajambrosino Go write a loop. Straight into Codex.
@thsottiaux Turn on the ask user question tool when not in planning mode
Also let the model ask a user question and keep working while waiting for me to answer if it’s not blocking
What should we improve in the Codex app. What's not delightful?

@thsottiaux thanks for seeding my weekly todo list

@thsottiaux Weird bug that keeps asking for approval when full access was granted

@thsottiaux why there is no simple delete chat option in codex?
@thsottiaux Let me drag to reorder threads in a custom order
At minimum allow reordering pins on iOS
What should we improve in the Codex app. What's not delightful?

@thsottiaux 1. "Reconnecting 4/5..." everytime 2. For very long threads, the mobile remote control basically doesn't load. I think this is being fixed?

@thsottiaux Its unusable if you have too many old threads and why it has to load all of them ? cant we lazy load if user need older threads ?

@thsottiaux pls

Make it easier to connect conversations from ChatGPT into codex. I do a lot of planning and ideation with ChatGPT because it’s better at conversations. It’s easy, but still annoying to have hit the share button then paste a link from the convo into codex.
I should be able to invite Codex to the conversation

@thsottiaux Next.js support. Codex will trip over stalled Next.js servers and sometimes keep trying to boot more and more instances instead of just stopping and restarting the first instance. It's a massive headache for working with Next.js in Codex.

@thsottiaux Loads of bugs and clunky UI reviewing in staged files.
1) I always want my staged files collapsed by default and tree folder not visible but literally every time an agent finishes work I like to review the changes and stage the files one by one. Yet it always starts expanded

@thsottiaux Mobile app doesn't know when limit reached for codex (android / windows)

@thsottiaux getting this strange font in the terminal all of a sudden

@thsottiaux Project organization is abysmal! Give us folders for the projects Let us change the icons and colors

@ajambrosino Are you writing temporal logic specs yet

@thsottiaux Not having it on Linux 🥲

@thsottiaux I would love a dedicated codex app for the phone, i mean i go into chatgpt , codex and the ui and functions are not all there yet. Ive replaced my openclaw / Hermes with codex, this is great but take it to the next step ;)

Running 10-15 agents in parallel starts to slow down the entire system.
Trying to get PRs merged into main and deploy quickly and efficiently seems like a problem Codex can and should solve.
I'm completely limited on how many tokens I can use with Codex for these reasons alone.

@thsottiaux let's start with
