Matchmakers work in two contexts: social authority where they are handling very special cases within an intact marriage culture & setting up people too elite or too unique to meet normally. You can kind of see what would work. It would be your AI agent simulating dates with someone else’s AI agent. Then you’d get a stream of AI generated videos of the dates it had. You would swipe through as though watching TV. And then match. This would fulfill both purposes of dating apps today: a) proving light romantic fantasy (90%) b) finding high quality matches (10%) In order to make this work you’d need: a) personal AI agents with sufficient context on you, earliest around 2028 I think, when everyone will have AI pendants listening to their conversations b) low cost high quality video generation, also by 2028
