By pure chance, I ran into your video on Omarchy (did not know what it was, never ran Linux), and it incited a long-forgotten desire to tinker - without any necessity, just as a poetic enterprise. Bought an Asus ExpertBook Ultra and now I'm childishly excited to try this new OS on this new laptop. Riveting! As if I'm 15 again, and life is still promising and curious!
I got the 16GB version, which retails for $899, and it's been my couch machine for the past week or so. Absolute love it! SSH into a box in the closet, and all my agents keep running when I shut the lid too. A machine made for this moment! https://www.dell.com/en-us/shop/dell-laptops/new-xps-13-laptop/spd/xps13dx13260laptop
I once bought a Dell computer and after 1 day the 1tb disk space was filled. I opened windirstat to find some dell recovery tool had generated 800gb of log files. Apparently it wasn't an uncommon thing because I found several articles online with the same issue. I haven't bought anything from them since
@dhh a 1kg ssh terminal with a good keyboard for $699 is the most honest laptop pitch in years

@dhh 1kg for that price is honestly such a steal for a dedicated terminal machine
@dhh Too bad it runs Linux/windows which is a deal breaker for most people
Dell is on a roll with the revived XPS lineup. The new XPS 13 weighs just 1 kg, costs from $699, and is built beautifully. The Wildcat CPU is not for heavy multi core workloads, but it's ideal as a browser + ssh terminal. Keyboard is also superb. Much nicer than a Neo imo. https://x.com/dhh/status/2076720638140854281/photo/1
