Uber Lays Off 3,300 Staff to Cut Management Layers

Uber is cutting about 3,300 positions, or 10 percent of its global headcount. The company plans to reduce management layers and redirect spending toward its ride-sharing, delivery, and robotaxi divisions. Most remaining employees must work from the office, with only about 1 percent allowed to work fully remotely. CEO Dara Khosrowshahi announced the changes in an internal email. These are Uber's largest personnel cuts since the Covid-19 pandemic and come as the company focuses on artificial intelligence and robotaxis.
