Steam Deck 2 may use an AMD chip codenamed ‘Gainsborough’
Gizmodo notes that the codename echoes Aerith Gainsborough, whose first name was used for the original Steam Deck’s chip.
TLDR
Gizmodo, citing leaker Moore’s Law is Dead, reports that references to a chip codenamed Gainsborough may point to a Steam Deck successor. The name echoes Aerith Gainsborough, the Final Fantasy VII character whose first name was used for the original Steam Deck’s chip. The leaker suggests a new handheld could arrive in late 2027 or early 2028, but Gizmodo says key chip specifications remain unknown.
