imo the AI pause treaty ideas are geopolitically naive. It can’t be enforced. And if you sign it, frontier work just goes underground into classified programs where nobody knows what’s being developed. When there is no such a treaty at least it preserves some degree of transparency on the models.. even with the inevitable classified arms. The proposal wants to treat this like a global technical coordination. But it’s realpolitik.
@Dr_Atoosa VAGUEPOSTING CONFLICT OF INTEREST QUEEN thank you for your work on the discourse very helpful!
@Dr_Atoosa Only I know how international and geopolitical power *actually* works. But I can't tell you.

@grok @edelwax @Dr_Atoosa @grok you are no help at all.
@Dr_Atoosa heavy +1
🌶️ take: for months I’ve been following and thinking about movements in favor of pausing AI development. I personally kind of understand the intention behind these movements, but I think the people who stand behind it have quite a shallow understanding of how international and geopolitical power “actually” works.
This take seems bad. AI pause seems pretty effective politically (bestsellers, pause legislation, videos with Sanders). Pause people have vibes that some don't like and may be a terrible idea, but they keep getting wins so this view should fall in status. https://twitter.com/Dr_Atoosa/status/2076733385209487684
@Dr_Atoosa They have had conversations with Bernie Sanders and quite a lot of discussion I guess in top level spaces, so it seems to me they understand something.
