NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
NEW: Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang to join board of prestigious Tsinghua University in Beijing.
Jensen joined the Tsinghua advisory board, dumdum. Chaired by Tim Cook.
Zhang Lei, Gao Xiqing, Feng Lun and Fu Chengyu are Chinese CEOs/founders serving or have served on actual boards of trustees of major US universities.
Nobody in China gave two shits.
If a major Chinese tech CEO joined the board of Harvard or Yale while advising CCP on strategic technology policy, he would be politically destroyed overnight in China, investigated, denounced by Chinese nationalists, and probably disappear from public view for “rectification.”
The standard is apparently "global openness” when it benefits China and “national security threat” when the flow goes the other direction.
I am really looking forward to Laura vs Jensen and The World
JUST IN:
Following my report about @nvidia CEO Jensen Huang joining the board of Tsinghua University, China’s premier CCP institution, US Senator Jim Banks @SenatorBanks says “I’m going to look into this”.
Every US Senator and member of Congress should be calling for Jensen Huang to be removed from the President's Council of Advisors on Science and Technology (PCAST).
You can’t serve the White House and the CCP.
This is a major national security threat.
I have sent my report to the White House, @DeptofWar, @DavidSacks and multiple Cabinet members and members of Congress.
Hopefully we get some answers soon.
Jensen Huang just moved Nvidia closer to China’s elite business and policy network by accepting the coveted Tsinghua University advisory role while Washington is blocking Nvidia’s top AI chips from China.
The role is on Tsinghua SEM’s 65-member advisory board, chaired by Apple’s Tim Cook and packed with global CEOs from tech, finance, and industry.
Gives Huang access to a rare forum where Chinese policymakers, academics, and corporate leaders still meet Western executives.
Nvidia may not be able to ship its best silicon to China, but it does not want to lose the relationships that shape future demand.

@teortaxesTex you're underestimating the power of the federal government. It's not powerless against the wealthy. There's a reason Elon apologized to Trump.

@mattparlmer Wonder what he’ll say when Dwakesh asks about this…

@hsienshoryu @mattparlmer There are no export restrictions on Apple or Tesla. That’s the difference.
