codex app is for normies
it's not really intuitive working on multiple things at the same time.there's too much friction switching between them
so 5 codex cli tabs are superior
wait, codex app is beautiful

Many users dismissed claims that Codex CLI tabs outperform the app for multitasking as a skill issue or rage bait, while a few praised its intuitiveness for remote multi-tasking.
@scaling01 How so? I find it much easier than managing a bunch of terminals. Even just having the threads sorted by project is so convenient

@scaling01 true for the UI, but the underlying app server tech is great

@theo @scaling01 It would be nice to be able to have multiple threads open simultaneously.

@scaling01 That's why we made ccmux, to make it much easier to switch and manage agent sessions from any device, while maintaining the native CLI

@scaling01 Have you tried Pets? Sounds unexpected but solves parallelization and focus challenges!

@scaling01 Really just good for remote computer use. Feels more intuitive controlling from my phone to trigger of multiple things at the same time.
Feels easier on the phone since its just easier to switch back and forth swiping and tapping

@scaling01 switching cost is the real tax here, not the tool. i ended up giving each project its own space so the tabs stop bleeding together, leap's been good for that on the browser side

@scaling01 Just pin the sessions you’re actively working on and you can jump between them just like tabs

@scaling01 as opposed to the native cli ability to have multiple sessions ongoing?

@theo @scaling01 I'm trying to work out an automation flow so that whenever I get side tracked it automatically spawns a thread for the new issue so I don't conflate threads/issues.
I was working on automating this through a meta level system but the 5/5 buff ran out.

@scaling01 five tabs is just a terminal multiplexer with an api bill

@llmDestructor @scaling01 bro whats up with that theme switch between light and dark? my eyes

@scaling01 i find working with the codex extension in vscode easier as it gives me eyes on the codebase directly, have you tried it?

@scaling01 also you feel less in the loop because the (beautiful) UI is not really focussed inspecting the code and stuff.

@theo @scaling01 I think that fundamental problem is that it has only sidebar (it's same with T3 Code). I prefer way Schaltwerk did it.
Horizontal tabs for projects, vertical tabs for chats in projects. Also visualisation of subagents / parallel chats was better in Schaltwerk.

@scaling01 real thinking is for niche dudes

Some people might reply to Lisan “What about the friction from switching between those 5 codex cli tabs?”
There’s an app for that: - All of your terminal screens in one app - Subtle pulsing dot next to customizable tab name indicate if the coding agent is active or waiting on your input - Group terminal tabs by project & issue commands that instantly happen to all terminals in the group (ie tell them all to compact, or write up a summary)

@scaling01 you can open multiple windows, or side chat if working on the same repo, and if you have more than a small screen, it's way enough

@scaling01 But you can open 5 codex app windows
