Alyn Smith Named Scotland's New Minister for Innovation and Education
Former MP and MEP takes over the role after Ben Macpherson resigned last month.
The Scottish Government announced Alyn Smith as Minister for Innovation, Technology and Tertiary Education. Smith, a former MP and MEP elected to Holyrood in May, replaces Ben Macpherson. The government posted the appointment on its account. BBC Scotland and The Scotsman reported the same change. Stewart McDonald welcomed the move and highlighted Smith's time in Brussels and Westminster. Gina Davidson noted the handover from Macpherson.
