I am sad that I will not get to use Fable to work on PyTorch. I also think that these interventions are 100% consistent with Anthropic's stated beliefs. Additionally, by being first, Anthropic gives cover to other labs to impose similar limits for their frontier models.
Many users criticized Anthropic's limits on frontier model access and lack of transparency as hostile and restrictive while hoping OpenAI avoids similar practices, though a few praised their mission and beliefs.
@difficultyang I hope @OpenAI will rather prefer to differentiate themselves and not follow these practices.

@Smit_Chaudhary3 Anthropic isn't being hostile to you, it's being hostile to adversarial users that are trying to break the safeguards and get valuable tokens
Ultimately, human history can be considered as the evolution of ideas. Who knows, maybe Anthropic’s beliefs are the correct ones for the present Zeitgeist?
I wasn’t expecting them to win. But all technology tends to monopolies. Kudos to them! They worked hard, and following a mission.
@difficultyang Guess we'll all eventually pivot to a future version of DeepSeek, the way we pivoted to SeeDance for the video models. God bless the People's Republic for fighting for our rights and freedoms, I guess.
