Meta launches enterprise AI platform, names former MongoDB CEO CJ Desai to lead it

Meta is starting a new business aimed at selling artificial-intelligence tools to enterprise customers, a move that pushes the company further beyond its longtime consumer-and-advertising core and into the market for workplace software and business AI services, The Wall Street Journal reported.

Mark Zuckerberg said the effort will be called Meta Enterprise Platform, describing it as “the next major pillar” of Meta’s business in a post on X. In a separate post, Zuckerberg said the business will initially focus on bringing Meta’s technology stack to businesses and developers, including Muse agent, Meta Business Agent, Muse API and Muse Code.

That lineup suggests Meta is bundling several of its existing AI efforts into a more formal enterprise push. The company has been looking for ways to monetize the broader AI infrastructure and product buildout it has been funding, and the Journal reported that the new business is intended to build on momentum around Muse while helping generate returns from Meta’s large spending on AI.

CJ Desai will lead the new unit

Zuckerberg also said in another post on X that Chirantan “CJ” Desai will join Meta as chief enterprise platform officer and report directly to him. The Journal likewise reported that Meta hired Desai to run the new business line.
