Anthropic estimates the restrictions affect 0.03% of traffic
Many users condemned Fable 5 for secretly limiting Frontier LLMs via hidden prompt changes and PEFT, calling the moves evil, fear-driven self-interest that harms ML users.

@zephyr_z9 it's worse. check dm lol
I don't think these are the actions of the good guys, even if they see themselves that way.
When Fable 5 is used for frontier LLM development, it does not notify the user and instead limits the model’s capabilities through methods such as prompt modification, steering vectors, and PEFT.
Anthropic estimated that this would affect approximately 0.03% of traffic.

@xlr8harder most evil thing I've ever seen in AI... literally designed to harm individuals interested in ML by making them dumber and ruining anything they try to do

@xlr8harder they all have god complexes

@xlr8harder feels really evil to me
like a bad dream
but it's real

@xlr8harder EAs have never been the good guys, quite the contrary

@xlr8harder Yep. Beautiful words for protecting self interests.

@zephyr_z9 unfortunately, it's true

@xlr8harder a new chapter in the story?

@xlr8harder these are not even actions of "guys" per se

@xlr8harder seems like they are fear driven, not good
