Microsoft is reportedly merging consumer and enterprise Copilot into one app after cutting features customers were not using.
According to The Information, Jacob Andreou told staff the overhaul will add AI coding tools, paid AutoPilot agents and add-ons like Copilot Cowork into a unified Copilot experience targeted for August.
The internal line is unusually blunt: "earn and respect the right to exist in our customers’ lives."
Copilot reached 20M paying users by April, up from 15M in January. But ChatGPT has more than 50M paying subscribers and far more consumer reach. Microsoft still owns the enterprise distribution. The hard part is proving Copilot is more than another $30-per-seat AI layer inside Office.
