My guess - given that was released circa late 2019 - is that this tech could be on a path to maturity for a very specific niche of short-range missions where positioning a recording device in advance or in realtime is otherwise very difficult. But it's hard to intuit the trade-offs on cost, reliability, training people to use the equipment, how often those specific circumstances come up, etc
