Very early experiment but I think this will be cool.

Patrick Collison shared an early experiment letting developers and AI agents query businesses already connected to Stripe through a dedicated CLI tool that returns structured profiles, descriptions, and integration endpoints for services like databases and email APIs without extra payment setup.

Anyone with the Stripe CLI can install the directory plugin and run keyword searches that output JSON-ready results for companies that have opted into public profiles, removing manual lookups for supported endpoints.
The preview includes optional agent skill installation so autonomous tools can search, evaluate options like pricing or features, and connect via existing Stripe profiles, though exact rollout timing remains unspecified.
Positive users praised Stripe's business directory launch as brilliant for enabling an agent economy and overdue discovery, while some criticized missing integrations or harm to startups.

Here's me walking you through our new Stripe Directory and how we see it being used! Check it out and send us feedback: https://stripe.directory
Introducing Stripe Directory, a new way for you (and your agents) to search for businesses on the Stripe network.

@patrickc tried it out. having a structured directory that agents can actually query for service endpoints and pricing is a massive upgrade over the old manual search. huge for building reliable agentic workflows.
@patrickc Love this - congrats to the team!

Help! Pat, need your support with Stripe. Have been using stripe USA for payments for my SaaS product which needs to migrate to Stripe India. None of the Indian providers are even designed or catering to SaaS products. But Stripe India is invite only. Am being forced to strip down my product to suit the payment provider, as they cannot support it. Need your help to be bumped up the waitlist on stripe India. It’s a functioning revenue generating product moving from US to India!!!

@patrickc @collision Oh this could get fascinating

@patrickc Please for db just use @tursodatabase it's just works

@patrickc so cool

@patrickc How do you guys track analytics for the CLI?
Do you have stuff like session replay etc? Would it help if it existed?
I built analytics for agent skills; now thinking about expanding into CLI / MCP analytics.
DM me if interested :)

@patrickc Nice work!

@patrickc Incredible, just added @yolando_hq to the directory. This is like GEO/AEO just for the stripe ecosystem. Smart.

@patrickc every piece of software needs to not only be discoverable but also actually usable by agents

@patrickc If you pair this with Parlel (https://github.com/dksingh1997/parlel) which is an open source verification layer for AI coding agents, it would be a killer combination.

@patrickc Wow, we discussed this 11 years ago.
(Using chargeback and survey data to rank businesses and possibly adjust fees.)

@patrickc curious what tool or process you used to put this together. looks like it has potential for sure

@patrickc /stripe-directory I need an open-source llmgateway
👉 @llmgateway

@patrickc what context would stripe directory have of you?
would it have access to ur codebase?
cool idea!

@miles_matthias ;o

@patrickc lol this could actually be so freaking cool

@patrickc Could you do something similar but for allowing an agent to fetch all your Link invoices? 😇🙏

@miles_matthias @patrickc I am sure you’re already thinking about it / working on it, but it would be great for businesses to be able to plug in reputation info & usage info (verified usage would be amazing) to make it easier for the user or agent to search and choose.
