Windows 11 26H2 arrives as a small enablement update with a fresh support clock
Microsoft’s Windows 11 26H2 update is rolling out as a small enablement package on the same servicing branch as 24H2 and 25H2, with many features already delivered monthly and support reset after installation.
TLDR
Microsoft is rolling out Windows 11 version 26H2 as a small enablement package rather than a full operating system replacement, making it closer to a regular update for PCs already on 24H2 or 25H2. Microsoft says those versions share the same servicing branch as 26H2, and many of the release’s features have already been delivered through monthly updates. On commercial PCs, 26H2 also enables some features that were previously off by default, including Windows settings backup, app-specific taskbar actions, and some File Explorer improvements. One catch: devices on Windows 11 26H1 can’t update directly to 26H2. Installing 26H2 also resets support, with 24 months for Home and Pro and 36 months for Enterprise and Education.
