@garrytan Few things make me as angry as giving a bunch of undeserving, incompetent, big companies exclusive access to a model that I could make far better use of.

My money is just as green, and I’m just as American. It’s truly disgraceful and unacceptable. Just totally radicalizing.

1. The USG just found out that there is a specific person at Anthropic who will play ball with the administration and get things done.

2. That specific person is not the CEO.

@garrytan Exactly right. Anthropic can keep building new products with unlimited tokens on the best models while startups use older ones.

I should have mentioned this as well, I was processing this and thinking about the future.

@garrytan I am deeply troubled by the headline being that the ban is lifted when it’s only been lifted for some shadow cabal of gvmt orgs and corporations whose members we don’t even know.

@garrytan It’s extremely anti free market and un-American, leading to more authoritarianism, monopoly and inequality.

@garrytan That's literally the point. They're pulling the draw bridge, the breakaway civilization starts now. Tech oligarchs and Gov are the only game in town. From here on out everyone will at best get watered down, neutered junk, while that select group will always have the cutting edge.

@AndrewCurran_ The elephant on the room is this technology is now stalled at pre-Mythos level because it’s impossible for any organisation to ensure only US employees are accessing a particular LLM. I’ve worked for US multinationals where the IT team are scattered across 4 continents.

@EV_Trapper Never hesitate! I've done the same myself and regretted it. If you feel it just go for it. Being wrong isn't the end of the world.

@MatthewBerman @garrytan And the companies most at risk of disruption from startups have some opps to use the SOTA models to widen their lead vs competitors.
