Ledger confirms hardware implant in one affected wallet amid reported crypto thefts
Gizmodo says an authorized Southeast Asian reseller is tied to reports of drained wallets.
TLDR
On October 9, Gizmodo reported that Ledger crypto wallets were reportedly backdoored and said $71 million in crypto had already moved. The Verge reports Ledger later confirmed an unauthorized hardware implant in one affected wallet and asked Southeast Asian reseller CryptoBilis to pause sales. Crypto.news says Bitquery subsequently estimated suspected losses at $92.9 million across 311 wallets, a figure Ledger has not confirmed. Ledger has not established whether the implant caused the reported losses.
