SITUATION EXPLAINED: Claude Cowork can now learn a skill just by watching you do it once. • You record your screen while doing a task, talk through it as you go, and Claude turns it into a skill it can run again • This connects to Leopold Aschenbrenner's "drop-in remote worker" concept from Situational Awareness, AI that learns workflows the way a new hire would, by shadowing someone, not reading documentation • Fits alongside Claude's other moves in this direction: Claude Code, long-horizon agentic tasks, and Claude Tag in Slack • The pitch: any repetitive software workflow, video editing, audio production, design work, could be demonstrated once and automated going forward • This isn't full automation yet, it's closer to a productivity multiplier, since the creative direction still has to come from a person • Real labor-market displacement, in this view, only arrives with genuinely superhuman AI that's also cheaper than human labor, not this @schisofrenia: "You can just scrape YouTube videos and then upload it into Claude CoWork. Claude Cowork just launched a super useful feature. Screen recording to train it a new skill. You record yourself doing a task on screen while explaining each step aloud, then save the generated skill. Claude turns that recording into saved instructions, then can repeat the same task later. In the past, writing skills was about creating an SKILL.md file with metadata, instructions and scripts that could be used or not. The format is readable and modifiable, but non-technical people must think like process designers to use it. By recording your screen, you are not only describing your work, you are also showing how decisions are made in the application you are targeting. Claude must infer the fixed steps, the variable inputs, and the success conditions from the session log. That can turn what people know into software without them writing automation code. Tasks that are repetitive, such as filing and reporting, can be easy targets because they have the same structure over and over again. btw, this feature is similar to OpenAI's Record & Replay in Codex.

Anthropic has limited Record a skill to Claude desktop subscribers on Pro, Max, and Team plans. Recorded screens can contain private data, so sensitive demonstrations need strict boundaries, as usual.
