Montage Technology has begun mass production of two new DDR5 clock driver chips aimed at faster memory modules in both PCs and servers, with Wccftech reporting that the company is now producing its CK01P for mainstream systems and its RCD05 for enterprise DDR5 RDIMMs.
Client DDR5 pushes to 9200 MT/s
On the client side, Wccftech reports that Montageβs CK01P conforms to the JEDEC DDR5CKD01 clock driver specification and is designed for DDR5 CUDIMM, CSODIMM, CQDIMM, CAMM and next-generation mainstream module standards. The report says the chip can reach transfer rates of up to 9200 MT/s on those module types.
Wccftech also says the CK01P supports three clock driving modes β single PLL, double PLL and PLL bypass β and uses a zero-phase-delay clock driver architecture with programmable delay per channel. The report adds that the chip can adjust output characteristics to match DIMM network topology and can improve power efficiency by shutting down unused clock output.
Server-focused part targets DDR5 RDIMMs
Montage has also started mass production of its RCD05 clock driver chip for server memory, Wccftech reports. The part is described as conforming to the JEDEC DDR5RCD05 specification and targeting DDR5 RDIMMs.
According to Wccftech, the RCD05 supports DDR5 RDIMMs at up to 8000 MT/s. The report says Montage positions that as an 11% increase over the existing RCD04 generation.
Wccftech further reports that the RCD05 includes a high-performance, low-jitter PLL clock drive circuit and supports CTLE, ZQ calibration and improved signal integrity.
The move gives Montage new mass-produced parts for both mainstream and enterprise DDR5 platforms, centered on higher transfer speeds for client memory modules and server RDIMMs.
