anthropic won't let you use fable for biology, chemistry, ai research, or anything that accelerates human progress. that makes it the perfect tool for developing blockchains
A venture anthropologist jokes that Anthropic's restrictive Fable usage policy makes it the perfect tool for blockchain development
OpenAI's Jason Liu compared the restrictive rules to Sophons.
Many users criticized Anthropic for blocking Fable AI from biology, chemistry and life sciences research as harmful gatekeeping that hinders progress and reeks of fear-based control, while others praised the restriction as finally truthful.

What's crazy to me is that Fable is blocked from life sciences broadly, nerfed even if you get passed the classifiers and filter level blocks.
The whole point of AGI/ASI is to cure all diseases. Everything else is just nice to haves. But Anthropic wants to close off that path.
I think Anthropic might be the worst company on the planet.

@Ferbin08 Im in a community of scientists on discord and thats not what they are saying at all

@1_missthesun They dont even have a program to let authorized users bypass the nonsense

@ManpreetBola It's like they're on day one of any safety classification. Crazy since we went thru this with Llama-2 where it would refuse to discuss spicy mayo because spicy foods are dangerous!

Well they made a mistake. I a business owner and developer can never trust them to be reliable again.
Workflows I do every day with anthropic models now all failing, literally wasting hundreds of dollars due to input tokens that lead to no output. Can never put my trust in them as a paying customer again

@Teknium don't think it's actually blocked that broadly.
standard biotech requests usually go through. the policy catches specific dangerous research, not the whole field.
real tension but overstates the claim.

@wsfyrz You know whats easier and safer then? Not releasing the fucking useless braindead worthless shit in the first place

@Teknium Indeed

@tymrtn Go to @AiEleuther where hundreds of PhDs are, they aren't given access

@EichenwaldAteli My company already paid the toll and they are still blocking me from generic normal coding tasks

@Teknium ok. and how do you plan to allow positive cases while preventing negative at the same time? Magic? Just release the best and know there is more good than bad in the world? doesn't feel like ur considering the hazards

@0xBalloonLover They wont even let you do that

@Teknium Karpathy said he hopes that they will soon be able to ease the restrictions for Fable.
They made them too strict on purpose.
We’ll have to see what they do the next month.

@wxrrjxr @ElmerdenBraven There is no "migration" in hermes. It's skills are portable and all it takes is `hermes model` command to change to mythos

@Ferbin08 @Teknium So are cancer treatments dangerous?

@Teknium @1_missthesun https://www.anthropic.com/news/claude-fable-5-mythos-5

@ericgkrehbiel Fwiw we’ve always known this its the reason nous was created in the first place 😅

@defaultuser9999 Doesn't matter, they dont give a path for even vetted people to access these capabilities.
They gave me access to bypass the cybersecurity gate 2 weeks ago, I can't make mythos do a damn thing, innocuous or otherwise
