@eigenrobot They do cutting edge semis and quantum research. Their mainframes still have definite utility for banks, government, etc, as do their IT consulting services. They also run Red Hat and do more for open source than basically any company.

everyone is blaming india for this but I don't think ibm has done anything interesting since before i was born theyre the radio shack of tech firms. i see stories like this and mostly find myself amazed they still exist
