Welcome to /sql!
As both Digg as a platform and custom communities are relatively new, this is a chance to build something good from the ground up, informed by what worked (and didn’t) in similar communities elsewhere.
As Digg and its tooling improve, this community will adapt alongside it. I hope you’ll all join me in shaping /sql into a useful and long-lasting SQL resource — whether you’re brand new to this space or have decades of experience building and running databases.
What to expect
Moderation - As the community grows, I’ll publicly ask for volunteers to help moderate /sql. Please wait for those posts rather than offering help proactively.
I chose /sql because it’s a broad but focused category that captures SQL wherever it’s used, including (but not limited to):
MySQL
MariaDB
PostgreSQL
Microsoft SQL Server
Oracle Database
SQLite
etc.
Alongside engine-specific discussion, tooling will also be a focus — IDEs, GUI/TUI tools, testing approaches, frameworks, and anything else that helps people work with databases day to day.
As Digg adds more features, I’ll enable and use them where they make sense (hopefully tags arrive sooner rather than later).
This is a chance to build a long last resource and I hope you're just as excited as I am to help grow it.
