Detroit reportedly wants to re-sign Simon Edvinsson despite interest from other teams

Pierre LeBrun says Boston is among the teams interested in Simon Edvinsson and believes at least 10 teams have inquired. He reports that Detroit’s interim GM, Shawn Horcoff, prefers to re-sign the restricted free agent. Horcoff has ownership’s authority to reach an extension, and Edvinsson has been offered long-, mid- and short-term deals, but a sizeable salary gap remains. LeBrun says a trade could become possible if talks drag on.
