Notre Dame's Leprechaun made a second-chance kick worth $500,000 for charity in Pat McAfee's kicking contest on College GameDay, Awful Announcing reported. The outlet did not name the charity or report that the money had been transferred.
The mascot's kick was separate from a $1 million field goal by Michael Milano, whom Front Office Sports identified as a Notre Dame pre-med junior. Awful Announcing reported that Milano, too, made his kick on a second chance.
The Pat McAfee Show celebrated Milano's result, posting, “MICHAEL MILANO FOR ONE MILLION DOLLARS” and “WHAT A KICK #CollegeGameDay.”
Reports differ on season payouts
The two kicks came with conflicting reports about the contest's season total. Front Office Sports reported that McAfee's “Kicking Is Easy” contest had paid out $9.5 million to students and charities, with five successful kicks in 10 weeks. Sporting News put the season total at $10 million and listed $1.5 million for Week 10.
Neither outlet explained the difference between the season figures.
