Tokyo a potential destination for an NFL regular-season game as early as 2028

The NFL could play a regular-season game in Tokyo as early as 2028, Sports Business Journal reports, citing SI’s Albert Breer. The game is a possibility, not a scheduled event.

The league announced its Australia game at the Super Bowl in February 2025, more than a year and a half ahead of time, SBJ writes. SBJ suggests that following the same pattern for Japan would mean announcing plans at a Super Bowl and playing at the start of the 2028 season. That timeline is a hypothetical comparison, not an announced plan.
