Jalen Hurts out for Eagles-Panthers game with superficial blood clot

The Eagles say a Wednesday night follow-up ultrasound showed the small clot had moved, and treatment is being determined.

TLDR

In a statement shared October 15, the Eagles say Hurts was cleated in the calf during their October 4 game against the Rams. An ultrasound later found a superficial blood clot, but doctors concluded he could safely play the following Sunday. A Wednesday night follow-up showed the small clot had moved, and the team says he will sit out against the Panthers while it determines treatment.

An ultrasound performed after the Eagles arrived in London found a superficial blood clot. The team said its medical staff and doctors in London concluded that activity and mobility were important and that Hurts could safely play. He played without limitation that Sunday, then received treatment Monday and Tuesday before practicing fully Wednesday.

A follow-up ultrasound Wednesday night showed that the small clot had moved. Philadelphia ruled Hurts out against Carolina while doctors determine treatment, saying his health and safety are the priority. Ian Rapoport reported that Tanner McKee will move forward at quarterback while Hurts is sidelined.
