Ilia Malinin targets 'the hardest programs in the world' after Olympic disappointment
Malinin says his Olympic disappointment shifted his focus from winning medals to enjoying skating ahead of Skate America.
TLDR
The 21-year-old will open his 2026-27 season at Skate America, Nov. 13-15 in Everett, Washington, after missing a men's singles medal at the 2026 Winter Olympics. Malinin says that setback clarified his love of skating beyond medals, money or records. His new programs push him technically and artistically, and he says he is having the most fun skating in four years.
