TLDR

A NASCAR host said Hendrick powertrain and engines VP Scott Maxim told her during a commercial break that Hendrick has no A, B or C engine tiers and supplies the same engines to Hendrick, Spire and Hyak. She said they also discussed on air that the teams use a Cup engine for about three races and have an engine success rate above 99%.

Danielle Trotta@DanielleTrottaI didn’t have time to ask Scott Maxim, VP of powertrain and engines for Hendrick, on air today about tiered engine programs bc fans have called in & asked but I asked him in commercial break ... Scott says Hendrick does not have tier A,B &C engines. He said that’s not how Mr H wants to conduct business. They supply engines for Hendrick Spire & Hyak and they all have the same engines. Something we did discuss on air that’s fascinating to me is as often as these teams use a Cup engine (about 3 races) their success rate is over 99%. That’s less than 1% of the time to have a blown engine. Pretty incredible! @SiriusXMNASCAR1h
