The U.S. women’s hockey team beat Canada 4-0 Friday, Oct. 30, in Plymouth, Michigan, splitting a two-game series ahead of the 2026 World Championships. Ian Kennedy of The Hockey News reported that Gwyneth Philips earned the shutout after the U.S. lost Wednesday’s opener 5-3 in Windsor.
Canada goalie Éve Gascon made 10 saves to keep the first period scoreless. Just 57 seconds into the second, a Caroline Harvey shot bounced off Tessa Janecke and in on a U.S. power play. Joy Dunne scored on a wraparound less than four minutes later. Kirsten Simms made it 3-0 from the slot on a pass from Rory Guilday before the period ended.
Kennedy reported that the U.S. held Canada to 13 shots. Philips described the response to the opening loss: “As a team we know how big this game was going to be coming back from a loss and I think we knew that and we showed up.” Hilary Knight called the opener a game of “shaking the rust off” and said the team was “kind of going on all cylinders” in the rematch.
At the time of his Oct. 30 report, Kennedy wrote that both teams were set to travel to Denmark ahead of the World Championships, scheduled to start Nov. 6.
