ESPN accused of watering down a show on sports gambling and rejecting story pitches
Awful Announcing reports Nicole Noren resigned in 2023 after 24 years at ESPN, shortly after ESPN Bet launched.
TLDR
Awful Announcing, citing Noren’s interview with the Columbia Journalism Review, reports that the former ESPN producer said none of her pitches scrutinizing gambling companies and addiction was approved. Noren said a show on the subject became “very neutered.” Awful Announcing said ESPN had not responded to its request for comment by publication.
