Mexican forward Julián Quiñones reportedly reached 40 goals in 2026, surpassing Santiago Giménez's 2023 tally of 39.
Quiñones' reported 40-goal tally puts him three short of Hugo Sánchez's all-time mark of 43, set in 1989. A fan congratulated Quiñones and expressed hope that Giménez regains the form he once showed in Europe.

@AllFutbolMX🚨🤯 BREAKING: Julian Quiñones officially becomes the Mexican player with the most goals in a calendar year in the 21st century, with 40. He broke Santi Gimenez’s record of 39 (2023) and is just three goals away from Hugo Sanchez’s all-time record of 43 (1989). HISTORIC. ❤️👏🏼
@ChacoitismoComo pasa el tiempo, parece que fue ayer cuando veíamos a Santi en su mejor nivel rompiéndola en Europa, pero aún confío en que regresará esa versión. Por lo mientras felicidades a Quiñones por superar ese récord.@AllFutbolMX🚨🤯 BREAKING: Julian Quiñones officially becomes the Mexican player with the most goals in a calendar year in the 21st century, with 40.
