Hockey Canada has named 25 players to its roster for the 2026 IIHF Women’s World Championship, scheduled for Nov. 6-16 in Herning and Esbjerg, Denmark. The group has three goaltenders, eight defenders and 14 forwards, according to The Hockey News and Her Ice. Reporter Hailey Salvian, sharing an Athletic story, describes the roster as a youth movement and notes that national-team mainstays Brianne Jenner and Jocelyne Larocque are absent.
How many players are headed for a debut depends on which account and which kind of debut. Salvian says seven will make their Team Canada debuts. Ian Kennedy of The Hockey News counts seven making their World Championship debuts, including defender Kendall Cooper. Her Ice counts six Women’s Worlds debutants, omitting Cooper from that list while naming her to the roster. A Team Canada debut is a different claim from a Women’s Worlds debut, and the published counts do not settle Cooper’s status.
Kennedy reports that this is the first roster named under general manager Danièle Sauvageau, whom he quotes as looking toward “the long-term success of our program.” In an interview conducted before the announcement, forward Emma Maltais said camp had “a lot of new girls” and described seeing new faces as “different, it’s a change.” The Hockey News reports that Marie-Philip Poulin and Blayre Turnbull were ruled out before camp, while Julia Gosling missed camp because of injury.
