Arizona State commissions outside review of hockey workout that left player on life support

Front Office Sports reports Arizona State retained Scott Bales to investigate the Aug. 20 workout that left 21-year-old hockey player Matthew Mayich on life support. Seven anonymous teammates disputed the university’s initial review and called for an outside inquiry. Head coach Greg Powers is on paid administrative leave; Mayich’s family has called for the entire coaching staff to be put on leave.
