Barcelona reportedly fined €602 over Julián Álvarez pursuit

Barcelona has been fined £504 (€602) by the Spanish Football Federation over its summer pursuit of Atlético Madrid forward Julián Álvarez, The Athletic reported.

In a post, The Athletic said Atlético complained in July about what it considered improper attempts to sign Álvarez. The outlet described the complaint as concerning an alleged breach of ethics between the clubs. In an Oct. 27 post, Sky Sports News said Atlético accused Barcelona of approaching Álvarez without first notifying the club in writing. Sky Sports News said Álvarez’s contract runs until June 2030.

Álvarez ultimately remained with Atlético Madrid, The Athletic reported. The outlet said Barcelona intends to appeal the fine and has always denied wrongdoing.
