Looking for Alternatives to Acrobat

I currently use Adobe acrobat pro (2020) for pdf management. This is mainly in the context of insurance form completion. I have been very frustrated with the “collaborative sync” running endlessly in the background gobbling cpu/system resources.

Any suggestions for a reliable alternate software. The ability to add notation through touch input, text and secured signature is required.
