First Time Watching the 2010 Giants Playoff Run

My focus in 2010 was on everything but baseball. I found out MLB Global on YouTube has every game streaming and have been making my way through each playoff game. I'm Currently watching the NLCS, but I feel like I am missing some context. What am I missing that I should know about the beginning of that golden era?
