Swedish study links congenital infections to higher autism and intellectual disability risk

CIDRAP reports that a Swedish study found substantially higher risks of autism and intellectual disability among people born with congenital infections. Researchers compared them with their siblings using 35 years of data. CIDRAP’s linked summary says the risk of severe to profound intellectual disability was up to 30 times that in the general population.
