Aria plans £66 million for methods to change mitochondrial DNA

Chemistry World reports that UK funding agency Aria plans to spend £66 million on new methods for engineering mitochondrial DNA. The programme supports 19 research projects. Its director, Ryan Olf, says researchers still cannot tell which mitochondrial DNA changes drive disease, which merely follow it and which could be remedied.
