Swift’s orbit-boost attempt ends without a boost as Link reenters
NASA says Swift has restarted its gamma-ray detector and automated pointing, but the observatory is losing altitude again after the attempt to raise its orbit ended.
TLDR
NASA says Katalyst Space’s Link spacecraft did not raise Swift’s orbit and reentered Earth’s atmosphere on September 25. Swift’s Burst Alert Telescope was detecting gamma rays again by September 18, and automated pointing resumed on September 21. In its September 25 update, NASA estimated Swift would fall below 185 miles in early to mid-October, when science observations would likely cease.
