Simons Observatory's large telescope slated for October 2026 sky survey
Science reports three smaller telescopes are seeking possible traces of inflation in the cosmic microwave background.
TLDR
In an Oct. 14 report, Science said the Simons Observatory’s large telescope was due to begin a sky survey in October 2026. Three smaller telescopes had already begun observing, searching for polarization patterns that could point to inflation. The large telescope’s microwave-background maps could also help locate galaxy clusters, but the projected total of up to 40,000 is not a detection count.
