Sprint intervals reportedly alter 714 blood proteins, versus 7 after moderate cycling
A post summarizing a study in young, healthy males reports a much larger immediate protein response after six 30-second all-out cycling bursts than after 90 minutes of moderate cycling.
TLDR
According to a post describing the study, researchers tracked nearly 3,000 blood proteins before exercise, immediately afterward and three hours later. Six 30-second cycling sprints, with four-minute rests between them, altered 714 proteins immediately afterward; more than 98% increased. By comparison, 90 minutes of moderate cycling changed 7 proteins immediately and 19 after three hours. The post describes the findings as evidence of coordinated signaling involving muscle, fat tissue, the liver and other organs.
