TLDR

NASA Marshall said on October 3 that the 130-foot liquid hydrogen tank for Artemis IV had moved to the vertical assembly building at NASA Michoud. Teams will next attach roll rings in preparation for primer application. The tank is part of the SLS core stage and will hold thousands of gallons of super-cold propellant for the rocket’s four RS-25 engines.

@NASA_MarshallBig hardware for a big mission. This week, the 130-foot-tall liquid hydrogen tank for Artemis IV made its way to the vertical assembly building at NASA Michoud. Up next, teams will attach roll rings to the hardware in preparation for primer application. The rings allow technicians to rotate the tank to gain access to various areas during the production process. As part of the SLS (Space Launch System) core stage, the tank will hold thousands of gallons of super-cold propellant to fuel the rocket’s four RS-25 engines, helping generate more than 2 million pounds of thrust at launch.8h
