Plastic tea bags reportedly release hundreds to thousands of microplastics per cup
A post says most were polyamide fibers; bulk tea released fewer than three microplastics per cup.
TLDR
A post describing a new study says plastic tea bags release 555–2,498 microplastics per cup, mostly polyamide fibers, compared with fewer than three from bulk tea. It also says the bags can contribute up to roughly 22% of EFSA’s daily BPA limit and recommends switching to loose-leaf tea.
