Webb observations point to a reflective atmosphere around lava planet TOI-561 b
University of Waterloo researcher Lisa Dang and colleagues tracked nearly four orbits during a 37-hour Webb observation.
TLDR
Samuel Boucher and colleagues interpret Webb measurements of TOI-561 b as evidence for a highly reflective atmosphere and some heat transfer around the planet. A University of Waterloo account says the team inferred that it reflects roughly three-quarters of incoming starlight. Silicate clouds could explain the reflectivity in models, but their presence and the atmosphere’s composition have not been established.
