ESA’s Hera resolves Didymos and Dimorphos separately for the first time

Hera has captured separate images of Didymos and its satellite Dimorphos as it approaches the asteroid pair targeted by NASA’s DART mission. Its Asteroid Framing Camera took the images from 1,280 kilometers away. A November 2 operations plan schedules Hera to reach a position 20 to 30 kilometers from the pair on November 4, Japan time. Later surveys are planned to investigate the DART impact site and its effects.
