UK climate minister warns food system is vulnerable to El Niño

New Scientist reports that UK climate minister Katie White warned the country’s food system is vulnerable to El Niño and said extreme weather could damage harvests worldwide. She favored more local food production over stockpiling and pushed back against “panic and fear” after environment minister Angela Eagle suggested keeping some food on hand in case of storms and flooding.
