Higher combined metal exposure linked to abnormal lung function in Maui study

The University of Hawaiʻi at Mānoa says higher combined metal exposure was associated with abnormal lung function among adults in its Maui study. Researchers cannot determine how much of the measured metal burden came directly from the 2023 wildfires because they lack pre-fire measurements; other environmental exposures may also have contributed.
