New dinosaur Infernogallus jamesi had jaws suited to soft foods, possibly fruit
The toothless, turkey-size dinosaur may have eaten fruit, but its anatomy could also fit shoots and buds.
TLDR
Researchers described Infernogallus jamesi, a toothless Hell Creek dinosaur whose beak and jaw suggest a fruit-based diet. Science reports that its fossil was unearthed in 2011. Study author Greg Funston points to features suited to processing soft food, but outside paleontologist Case Vincent Miller cautions that the same anatomy could fit other soft plants, including shoots and buds.
