People with a higher object recognition ability are better at distinguishing AI-generated faces from real ones
A new study from Vanderbilt University reveals that a person’s object recognition ability can predict their ability to detect AI-generated imagery. The study, which developed the AI Face Test, found that individuals with stronger object recognition skills consistently outperformed others in identifying AI-generated faces. This ability, which is not tied to faces or technology experience, suggests that some people are better equipped to navigate the challenge of distinguishing real from synthetic images.
